Grain market faces uncertainty as shutdown Looms — Market Talk
UNITED STATES, Sept. 28 – A possible shutdown of the US government at the beginning of October is a main factor behind the pressure observed on CBOT grain futures today, with a potential absence of reports from the USDA coming at a critical time in the season, as farmers harvest and begin selling crops and analysts attempt to understand the size of US farm output, Market Talk reported.
“USDA/NASS could be impacted which could halt the reporting of US export sales/shipments and key monthly crop reports,” says AgResource in a note. The next monthly WASDE report from the USDA is scheduled for release on Thursday, Oct. 12 — and is anticipated to provide better estimates for how much intermittent dry weather and lack of rainfall has affected crop growth.
